Light Dependent Smart Switch System

AutomationHome Automation, Energy Management, Industrial Utilities
Overview

An automatic lighting control system using LDR (Light Dependent Resistor) sensors to detect ambient light intensity and automatically switch AC/DC electrical loads ON or OFF based on day/night conditions.

Key Features & Capabilities
  • Automatic day and night detection
  • Supports both AC and DC electrical loads
  • Reliable relay-based switching
  • Simple and robust embedded design
  • Low power consumption
  • Minimal manual intervention
Challenge / Problem Statement

Manual operation of lighting and electrical loads often leads to unnecessary energy wastage, especially during day–night transitions. A simple, reliable, and automatic switching system is needed that works with both AC and DC loads without complex infrastructure.

Oxymora Solution

Oxymora designed a Light Dependent Smart Switch System that uses an LDR to detect ambient light intensity. Based on light conditions, the embedded controller automatically switches electrical loads ON or OFF using relay-based control.

Hardware
  • LDR (Light Dependent Resistor) sensor
  • Embedded microcontroller
  • Relay modules for AC/DC switching
  • Power supply and protection circuitry
Software / Firmware
  • Embedded C
  • Light threshold detection logic
  • Switching control and debounce handling
Outcome / Impact

Reduced energy consumption through automation. Eliminated human dependency for routine switching. Improved operational efficiency in lighting systems. Delivered a cost-effective and scalable automation solution.
